No under 21-year-old who is in possession of a Juul is unaware of the problems that Juuls cause, and the now illegal object they possess. In my opinion, the under 21-year-olds who have the product should be the ones that are persecuted. Persecuting the stores that the products are from doesn’t actually solve the problem, as the stores are not even aware of the problem in the first place. What I mean is that under 21-year-olds are getting their Juuls by using fake IDs or having their friends buy it for them (the same way under 21-year-olds get alcohol). This effort of tracking Juuls is definitely a start, but the issue is that most people under 21 who are still able to purchase Juuls are not being sold them with the knowledge of the store owner. In my opinion, the efforts that Juul Labs have made to stop the access of Juuls to minors and under 21-year-olds has not been juristic enough. This entry was posted in Uncategorized by wvm5151. Juul Labs is working on more programs like this for the Juul Pods, and even said they see a future where the Juul is as smart of a device as an iPhone, which could ultimately help enforce thee 21 age restriction. This program will only work on Juuls that have been recently manufactured because they have only recently enforced the scanning of the products along every step of the distribution process. The program is in a pilot stage currently in Houston so they can learn how to optimize this technology without breaching customers personal information. It can also find adults who are buying them for minors. This can help enforce stores to only sell to adults, and stop selling to minors willingly. This program will allow parents and other adults who have confiscated Juuls from minors to input the serial code and Juul will track down what store sold it and to who they sold it too. Juul Labs pushed back by changing the age to 21 and getting rid of the fruit flavor, and now they are taking measure to the extreme by tracking down how minors are getting Juuls.
Juul Labs has received criticism from parents and lawmakers that they market their products towards minors with an easier way to get addicted to nicotine and good tasting flavors.
